Staff Openings

Paraprofessional

A paraprofessional is a teacher's assistant who help special education students. Knowledge of sign language a plus, but not a requirement. Must have at least 60 college credits or successfully pass the "Para Pro" testing requirements. Full time (6.5 hours a day) or part time (3.25 hours a day) is available. Benefits offered with full time hours.

NISEC provides services to students with exceptional needs within its 10 member school districts of Lake County, Indiana. School assignments vary depending on staffing needs. If interested in becoming part of the NISEC Team, please apply online using the link below.

Caution:  The online application process has been designed to take approximately 30 minutes to complete.  An application attempt that takes longer may experience time outs that produce unsaved and uncommitted applications.  The computer processing speed and internet connection that you are currently working with may also play a part in possible time outs.

Criminal Background Check

Indiana Code 20-26-5-10 requires all school corporations, charter schools and accredited nonpublic schools to adopt and administer a policy requiring individuals offered employment after July 1, 2009, to obtain an expanded criminal history check.

NISEC offers two options for obtaining your criminal background report. 

OPTION 1 - You may go online using the link to SafeHiring Solutions below, pay $28.00* with a credit card, complete the required documentation and NISEC will be notified when your report is available.

OPTION 2 - You may call the Director's Secretary to schedule a time to come to the NISEC Administrative Office, 2150 W. 97th Place, Crown Point, Indiana, to complete the release form, pay $28.00* (cash in the exact amount or a money order payable to NISEC), and the Director's Secretary will process the criminal background check.

*PLEASE NOTE:   The fee of $28.00 covers the cost of reporting from 3 counties of residence.  If you have resided in more than 3 counties, there is an additional fee of $9.00 per county.
